Safeguarding

 At Milton, the safety and wellbeing of our children is paramount. A child-centred approach ensures that our pupils are at the heart of everything we do and is fundamental in promoting the welfare of every child.

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility and all staff have a role to play in ensuring that we provide the best outcomes for our pupils in a safe, secure and nurturing environment. As a team, we work tirelessly to promote the health, safety, development and wellbeing of every pupil which enables them to fulfil their journey through education.

At Milton Primary, our Designated Safeguarding Leads are:

Mrs Bailey and Miss Parry take lead responsibility for any child protection issues in school.

At Milton Primary:

  • Children know who they can talk to about their worries;
  • All staff complete Level 1 Safeguarding training and receive regular training and updates;
  • Our DSLs and DDSLs complete levels 2, 3 and 4 safeguarding training;
  • We provide an induction session to all new staff, volunteers, students, supply staff and external providers;
  • Key staff have Safer Recruitment training and take the lead on making new appointments to the team;
  • The chair of our local advisory board is our safeguarding link;
  • We work closely with outside agencies to support our children and families.

Operation Encompass Partnership

We are committed to the Operation Encompass Partnership. This is an information-sharing partnership between Staffordshire Police and Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent educational settings which allows schools to offer immediate support for children and young people experiencing domestic abuse.

Information Sharing

Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. We will ensure that concerns about pupils are discussed with parents and carers, unless we have reason to believe that sharing this information may put a child at risk. We work in partnership with the local authority when we have concerns about a child that require a higher level of support. Often, we work with families through early intervention in order for children to be well educated, healthy and safe, cared for by resilient families and strong communities.
